ABOUT RAD BALLET
What is R.A.D (Royal Academy of Dance)?
Spread across 83 countries the R.A.D is one of the largest and most influential dance education and training organisations in the world. Originally it started in the U.K in 1920 and is now taught all over the world.
The R.A.D offers internationally recognised portfolio of examinations and assessments designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement.
The syllabus focuses on classical ballet as well as lyrical and character styles in order to cater for the modern dancers of today.
The R.A.D offers exams from pre-primary all the way through to Solo Seal. Studying through R.A.D is a fantastic way to learn all the fundamentals of dance in a progressive way. It helps to gauge progress while learning artistry, French, strength, co-ordination, pointe work and character. Exams are obviously practical and conducted by an examiner with no teacher present.
What if I want to study the work but not do the exam?
The R.A.D offers presentation classes, whereby students perform a selection of material from the exam syllabus. An examiner is present but does not grade the student. A certificate of participation is received at the end.
What grade should I enrol my child into?
Please contact Miss Jen and Miss Clare to discuss the best option for your child. If your child has done ballet this year, we have already placed the students into classes appropriate to their level of ability.
