COMBO CLASS
4 - 6yrs Tap Jazz Ballet
The 75minute Combo class is a combination of Jazz, Tap Ballet and Fun. It is the perfect introduction to all things dance.
This class focuses on laying down the foundation of movement, coordination musicality and basic technique in all three dance genres. The lesson starts with, penguin, shuffling tap, followed by the upbeat expressive movements of Jazz dance to popular music. The class finishes off beautifully with the magic of ballet filled with fairy wing arms and walking on their toes like princes or princesses.
HIP HOP
Prep - Grade 12
Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. Our Hip Hop classes teach rhythm, coordination, musicality and choreography without suggestive music or movements. It includes a wide range of styles such as popping and locking. What distinguishes hip-hop from other forms of dance is that it is often "freestyle" (improvisational) in nature and hip-hop dance crews often engage in a freestyle dance battle. Think irresistible rhythms and eye-catching steps that break many of the conventions of classical dance.
TAP
Grade 1 - Grade 12
Tap dance is a form of dance characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. There is a versatility in this dance style. Early tapper, like Fred Astaire, provided a more ballroom look to tap dancing, while Gene Kelly introduced ballet elements and style into tap. As the style evolved it take a broadway approach before introducing, street tap. Imagine Hip Hop and Tap got fused together. Examples: Happy Feet, Anything Goes, 42nd Street.
HIP-HOP CREW

The Hip-hop crew is a troupe of advanced Hip-hop dancers who wish to be challenged and have access to more performance opportunities. This is a competition based class for skilful, passionate and dedicated
students who are attending King’s Dance Academy and taking at least 1 other King’s Dance Hip-hop class weekly. There is a big focus on fitness, working in a team environment in a respectful and professional manner.
A 40minute playful ballet experience for new little dancers. Our kind experienced KDA dance teacher will lead pre-preps through each step of the class as they learn the fundamentals of ballet. The term “jazz” incorporates a broad range of dance styles. Jazz dance develops in parallel to popular music, with jazz being the physical embodiment of popular music of a given time. It, therefore, continues to evolve and remain popular across the world and across age groups.
There is a strong emphasis on technique, strength, clean lines and personality.

The Elite Performance group is a small team of advanced dancers who wish to be challenged and access more performance opportunities within the jazz genre. Students in this group are hard-working, skilful and
eager students who are attending King’s Dance Academy and taking at least 2 disciplines of technical dance genres weekly.

BALLET
Prep - Grade 12
Ballet is the foundation from which nearly all dance styles have developed. For this reason, we encourage all students to participate in a weekly ballet class to use as a technical foundation to assist other dance styles.
Ballet Classes involve barre, centre and corner work. Ballet Classes will help improve posture, muscle tone, flexibility, core strength, musicality and artistic expression.
LYRICAL
Grade 1 - Grade 12
Lyrical dance is a dance style that embodies various aspects of Jazz, Acrobatics, Modern and Classical Ballet. Lyrical dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid technical movements. This dance genre is usually performed in bare feet at a faster pace than ballet but not as fast as jazz. Group Lyrical routines often display perfect unison with a beautiful illustration of song lyrics from artists like Ed Sheeran, Adelle, and John Legend.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Private lessons are available for students wishing to enter eisteddfods and competitions or students just looking for one on one tuition to improve skills in their chosen style. Our private lessons create the opportunity to have intensive individual attention with one of our talented
instructors. These lessons are specifically tailored to the student’s ability and allow for personal development and cater to the individuals learning style. We also offer this style of learning for duos and trios.
